POLITICO: Huckabee Polls Best for 2012

The latest Politico/George Washington University Battleground poll is out, and it's good news for Governor Huckabee — who beats out all the other potential GOP candidates:

Favorable (Strongly and Somewhat)

1. Mike Huckabee (49 percent)
2. Mitt Romney (45 percent)
3. Sarah Palin (44 percent)
4. Newt Gingrich (39 percent)

Strongly Favorable

1. Mike Huckabee (23 percent)
2. Sarah Palin (22 percent)
3. Newt Gingrich (17 percent)
4. Mitt Romney (16 percent)

Unfavorable (Strongly and Somewhat)

1. Mike Huckabee (25 percent)
2. Mitt Romney (28 percent)
3. Newt Gingrich (39 percent)
4. Sarah Palin (49 percent)

Strongly Unfavorable

1. Mike Huckabee (14 percent)
2. Mitt Romney (15 percent)
3. Newt Gingrich (29 percent)
4. Sarah Palin (39 percent)

Analysis: While poll watchers rightly point out that both Huckabee and Romney do well (Gingrich and Palin, not so much), Huckabee is the clear winner. Particularly, his strong favorables are over 25 percent higher than Romney's, who comes in 4th — another indication that Romney's support is shallow compared to the rest of the field.

  1. I hope this is just the beginning of a successful 2012 run by Governor Huckabee.

  2. but he's such a phony. why? Why will the evangelical base allowed itself to be duped again like they did with Bush? We need real conservatives not puppets, insiders, and chameleons whose purported views differ with their record in office. I trust the guys behind this blog, and I trusted them when Huckster ran last time, only to find out when I did my own research that the guy is a big gov't neo-con.

  3. Sorry your research led you to such false conclusions Riconnasance. Take another look, listen to what he has been saying, remenber that when Governor he had to work with an overwhelmingly Democratic legislature. Huck's a good guy. Much "info" that is out there is from those whpo have their own favorite politico to espouse and so they run down the records and positions of others.

    You say...
"I trust the guys behind this blog, and I trusted them when Huckster ran last time, only to find out when I did my own research that the guy is a big gov't neo-con. "

Huckabee isn't a neo-con. He isn't even a CFR member. He certainly isn't a globalist elite. He will defiantly stand up to the UN. He has make some strong statements about then including getting them off of US soil.

  5. Glad to see Huckabee polling this well. We need a great candidate for 2012 to oust Obama.

Now... it'll be a battle with the Republican Party Establishment to put Huckabee up against Nobama. They've shown their true elitist colors with their establishment-approved wishy-washy candidates (McCain, Scozzafava, etc). The party is now about perpetuating the status quo and consolidating their power, and it will be up to the people to wallop the GOP back in line.

  6. I agree with Riconnaisance (hi Rick!) I see Huckabee as an opportunist (didn't he come out with a book entitled "Do the Right Thing"? after a certain other book came out with a similar title? and have a sort of variety tv show after his run for president in 2008?)

I believe his record shows that while governor of Arkansas he made some troubling decisions and had some questionable integrity issues. Also, just because someone had the job of pastor doesn't mean he's good for leading the country in a time of war and economic crisis.

In 2008 when he ran for president, the other troubling thing was that those who didn't support his candidacy, who attended the same Christian circles, were made to feel that their opinion and research was of little importance. A strong portion of spiritual "leadership" supported his candidacy and created a dynamic that didn't allow for healthy debate of the actual issues, oftentimes. In fact, it was quite unpleasant to feel this way at a Sunday Celebration (potluck, gathering) after the church service. People put a lot (too much, imo) of stock in what leadership tells them, or infers in the sermons and other conversations. Look up the term "cognitive dissonance" and you'll see what I'm getting at. Understand the power of influence amongst an affinity group (Christian are no exception)!

I wrote about this all two years ago when he ran before. The issues need to be discussed, especially his funding and time as governor and the kinds of decisions he made that didn't go well for their state.

As of this time, I have no favorites in this race. I'm willing to vote for a candidate based on his morally and fiscally responsible record, and Huckabee leaves some big doubts in my mind.

Yes, I remember what Bush said, too. Listening to what a candidate says vs. what they do is often miles apart. And I don't really care about what commentators say,it's the history of the candidates that tells the real story.

@David: "Huckabee isn't a neo-con. He isn't even a CFR member. He certainly isn't a globalist elite. He will defiantly stand up to the UN. He has make some strong statements about then including getting them off of US soil."

Whether or not he is CFR or a globalist elite doesn't change the fact that his policies as governor were greatly in line with neo-con ideology such as big government and big spending. And for the record we will *never* be rid of the UN--the shadow government elite will continue to pull the strings as they see fir for their globalist agenda. Huck doesn't have the power to stop Wall Street financiers and global bankers from continuing their raping of this country. The last president who actually stood up to them met his demise in Texas in 1963.

I hate to say it, and this is not a call to arms in any way, but imo the only way to save this country is an 2nd Revolution. But the citizenry doesn't have the will or the power to utilize the intended purpose of the 2nd amendment, which is to fight the treachery of a tyrannical government by force of arms. The US is going down, and there's nothing we, nor any president, can do to change this. America has been lulled to sleep.

Huckabee will never be president, because he is not chosen by "them". For example, Obama was groomed for 30 years for the presidency, his first job out of college working for Henry Kissinger. And he studied under Ziggy Brzezinski in college as well. Only those who will continue to work in favor of the elite will *ever* be placed into that office.

Thanks for your contribution as well, Kathleen.

  8. surely someone will say that God can save this country, a revival can take place, and miracles can happen and prayers will be answered. I agree 100%. But what I disagree with is whether this is the will of God or not. Although these things may happen in various ways and in differing degrees, I just simply do not believe that it is God's intention for our cause to succeed at this point in history; I believe the gears are winding toward a one-world government and that it will be accomplished, regardless of what we do or not. Apathy? No. Rather, focused determination on the things we *can* affect, not being distracted by the world's political system which will never get us anywhere.
